HI, I'M
DEANA.

I was born in Trinidad & Tobago, spent some time in Toronto, and now call Germany home. My family has Indian and German roots, and I grew up surrounded by different cultural influences.

Music has always been part of my life. From Caribbean rhythms and music that makes you want to dance to sounds that invite you to close your eyes and simply listen. I've always loved how different music can be and what it can bring out in us.

A path with a few turns

My professional journey began in programming before taking me into logistics, where I spent years planning, coordinating, solving problems, and keeping things moving when ten different things needed attention at once.

It wasn't exactly music production.

But that work shaped me. I enjoy understanding how things connect, developing ideas, and experimenting until something of my own begins to take shape.

Eventually, I wanted to give that creative side more room.

How Heart & Bass began

I founded Heart & Bass in February 2026.

It began with the desire to create my own music, without limiting myself to a single genre. I wanted the freedom to bring different rhythms, moods, and musical influences together.

As the first songs took shape, the idea grew.

I started writing Body Notes to share my observations about music and body awareness. Heartbeats followed as a newsletter, and I'm now developing movement sessions that will bring these ideas into shared spaces.

Heart & Bass is growing step by step. I'm learning, experimenting, discarding ideas, and discovering new possibilities along the way.

What drives me

I love music with character. Bass you can feel as much as hear. Rhythms that surprise you. And those moments when a song comes on and you suddenly find yourself dancing around the house with a grin on your face.

I love the quieter moments just as much, when you notice something that had previously escaped your attention.

Add to that my curiosity, my sense of humour, and the joy of creating something of my own.

My roots, the places I've lived, the work I've done, the music, and all the experiences in between have found their way into this project.

Heart & Bass is where the things I care about most finally get to belong together.
